Left brain/Right brain:
a problem of parity in the legal profession?

Firms & Legal Recruitment

3:00 - 4:00

Current legal culture tends to place great value on logic and reason. By contrast, emotion, empathy and creativity, tend to be conceived as being “outside the scope” of jurists’ work and analyses because they are assumed to be opposed to – or incompatible with – logic and reason. This workshop will explore the implications of this approach for both individuals and the profession.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and experiment with mindfulness and basic, micro-level changes in one’s (mental and physical) behaviour that can improve a jurist’s quality of life and professional interactions. Healthy Legal Minds | Ju(ri)stes en santé is a collective of legal professionals and law students that recognize the importance of psychological and physical health to the study and responsible practice of law. We commit to tackling the health issues unique to the profession and the people within it.

This workshop will be bilingual.
