The #LNFB National Forum 2020 Law Needs Feminism Because forum is moving West!
It will be hosted in Calgary, Alberta, on March 6th & 7th.
The theme of this year’s forum is
Introduced by Kimberlè Crenshaw in 1989, intersectionality has become paramount in the feminist movement. It has helped us change the way we think about how political, social, and legal institutions interact with our communities and the individuals within them. The 2020 forum will look towards how change-makers in the legal industry are wielding intersectionality as an innovative tool to create equitable change. In a time where the issues facing our society have become increasingly complex, the 2020 forum will focus on how we can overlap diversified ways of thinking, varied experiences, and multiple knowledges to create new understandings in law, and better solutions to the problems we see surfacing in the Canadian legal sector.
call for workshop hosts
We are accepting proposals from like-minded organizations & individuals that are interested in hosting a workshop or speaking engagement at the forum.
Below, please provide the name of the workshop, your name and the organization you are affiliated with, a brief description of the focus of your workshop, and any interactive components that it may involve. Please include the practical take-aways that can be expected from attendees, and finally, the number of individuals you feel your workshop is best suited for.
Proposals for workshops will be evaluated by the Calgary Women Studying Law Association, the organization hosting the 2020 forum. Workshops will be approximately 50 minutes. The deadline for proposal submissions is November 15th, 2019.
